"The Last Song"

“The Last Song” also known as “Nicholas Sparks Sells Out” is a movie starring Miley “Look at Me” Cyrus. Reportedly she always longed to be in a Nicholas Sparks movie, so Billy Ray decided to forgo the pony for her birthday and instead bought her a screenplay by, you got it, Nicholas Sparks.

According to IMDB, the movie is about an angsty young girl who spends the summer with her estranged father. Wait! Are there vampires and werewolves in this movie? It sounds like little miss Miley is longing for a Twilight-and-The Notebook combo of her very own.

Be rest assured that with a title like “The Last Song” she will be screeching out some lyrics at one point or another. She takes great pride in her vocals, and has been known to brag about her lack of formal voice lessons (IMDB, 2007). Anyone who has heard her song “The Climb” can tell you that is painfully obvious.

I mourn the loss of Nicholas Sparks, for to sell out is to die. “The Notebook” was incredible, and all of his other hits were as well, but I wonder how he will recover from what is sure to be a box office flop or a Disney hit.

In 2010, save your ticket money, or better yet donate it to a more worthy cause than Ms. Cyrus’ pocket book.

Do I sense a frustrated movie critic? Geez Kai, if ever you're looking for secondary employment I think the entertainment section of a newspaper would be a good home for you. Seriously impressive.

Considering Hollywood's penchant for sequels, don'tcha think 'The Last Song' is a pretty dumb-ass title?

What'll they call the next one? 'The Last Song F'Real'? 'The Last Last Song'? 'The Final Last Song'? Lame.

Right up there with 'Rambo: First Blood 2', methinks.

PS: Glad to see you're posting again. Your followers are getting restless. :)

Oh for gosh sakes Kai, I'm officially going through withdrawal now. Hope you're not killing yourself with work!

Kai, I had the most amazing experience this morning. Having breakfast with my wife, with the smooth jazz sound of "Glad to be Unhappy" (Chris Botti w/John Mayer) washing over one ear while the sound of a gentle rainfall washed over the garden in the other.
Pure bliss and very stirring.

Hey! I'm going to have to catch up on all your comments. I have been so crazy busy it isn't even funny, haha. Can you believe I've now been at the shelter a month? Where does time go?

Sounds like a perfect morning!

Kai, I can't describe your blog any better way than giving me the 'warm fuzzies'. (That's a good thing, by the way).

Your upcoming wedding to Gershom, your work at the shelter (very admirable), your intelligence and the quality of your writing have lately kept me coming back a stupid amount of times daily to see what's new.
Yeah, I guess it could be perceived as obsessive. But I pass it off to the fact that your schedule was so up in the air I didn't know when you'd post again. Yeah, that's it. Works for me. :)

When Sandy and I were listening to that song with the rain beating down, I closed my eyes and that moment seemed to hang in time forever. The sound of rain really does do something to me, it affects me deeply and I don't know why. I truly, truly love it.

As I mentioned to you before Kai I've included a small piece of my writing in each of your posts. I'm just about out of them...

PS: Glad to say I can't relate to wearing training bras, or the other monthly annoyances. God you women go through a lot. As if putting up with us isn't enough sometimes!
